Our Atlanta office is seeking a Tax Analyst to work in our Sales/Use Tax Division in our office located in Atlanta, Georgia (in the Dunwoody area). This position is responsible for assisting members of the Sales/Use Tax team by performing sales/use tax overpayment reviews and providing general administrative support.
DUTIES: Locates and copies relevant vendor invoices and other essential documents. Reviews client documents relating to sales/use taxes, including invoices, purchase orders, sales/use tax returns and details, sales/use tax audits, etc. Creates schedules of invoices and/or other documents. Prepares and revises spreadsheets for clients utilizing Excel. Assists in generating client reports. Researches and enters data regarding tax exemptions into the computer. Makes vendor calls as necessary for refund follow-up. Types general correspondence to clients as well as interoffice communications utilizing Word. Updates and maintains client files. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 0-2 years experience; AS degree with a focus on business related courses desired. Previous experience performing accounting tasks helpful. Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Excel and Word. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform work accurately while meeting critical deadlines. Ability to work as a member of a team and maintain a willingness and flexibility to make adjustments in work schedule when required.

Support for this group includes a heavy focus on internet research, preparation of tax related documents, document tracking, regular telephone contact, verification of data and data entry, and meeting critical deadlines. Primary Objectives and Processes: Research assessment data and obtain client property detail. Update internal database system with values and tax rates, notes and other data. Prepare correspondence to clients, including but not limited to review and appeal status, pre-invoicing and invoicing notification, and various reports. Manage and prepare documents, including formatting and editing letters, reports and spreadsheets from information provided with minimal guidance. Regular telephone contact with clients and tax professionals to request information and track issuance of notices. Verify tax rates and tax bills. Coordinate travel arrangements including airline and hotel reservations.
Knowledge Requirements: Minimum of 4-5 years administrative experience; additional experience in tax, accounting, and bookkeeping desired. Proficiency in professional business letter composition and formatting. Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Word and intermediate knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. Professional written communication skills for ongoing in-person and phone interaction with clients, etc. Strong organization and follow-up skills to support multiple people and to ensure critical deadlines are achieved.
