Nevada Tax Amnesty Period Approaches
|
A new Nevada tax amnesty program begins July 1, 2010 and ends September
30, 2010. The tax amnesty applies to any
tax that is paid to the Nevada Department of Taxation and due before July 1,
2010. Taxpayers who participate in the
amnesty program and pay any taxes due prior to the September 30 deadline will
have all associated penalties and interest waived.
Taxpayers who participate in Nevada’s amnesty program are still subject
to audit by the Department of Taxation.
Additionally, certain taxpayers who have agreed to a compromise or
settlement agreement with the Department of Taxation may be restricted from
amnesty participation.
Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons signed the amnesty legislation (Assembly
Bill 6) on March 12, 2010.
