New Pennsylvania Amnesty Program on the Horizon

by DMA Staff | Aug 15, 2016

Legislation to enact a tax amnesty program in Pennsylvania was proposed at the end of 2015. This proposal would allow tax delinquents to file their returns in exchange for reduced interest on unpaid tax, abatement on penalties, and, for some, a limited “look back” in the statute of limitation.

Recently, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives amended H.B 1888 on June 21, 2016. Article XXIX-G refers to an amnesty program for 2016-2017. The period would be 60 consecutive days between July 1, 2016, and June 30, 2017. Eligible tax periods will include any tax which is delinquent up to five years prior to December 31, 2015. As of June 29, 2016, the bill was re-referred to appropriations. REFERENCE
