Completely Compliance- Massachusetts Update

In Massachusetts, more tax types are required to be filed online. On January 1, 2016, most new business registrations will require eFile/ePay, in addition to alcohol, cigarettes, fuel and other returns being required. Current businesses continue to have the $5,000 or higher threshold. Please review the list of company types to determine if your company will be required to file online. REFERENCE

Massachusetts has discontinued their WebFile for Business and replaced it with MassTaxConnect. MassTaxConnect is available as of November 30, 2015. For more information and to set up your account, visit here: REFERENCE.

Finally, the state is using new account numbers. You will receive a notice of the new account numbers for each tax type. Each account number will be in the format of LLL-NNNNNNNN-NNN. The new account numbers should be used with the new online file system. FEINs should no longer be used as account numbers.

Please do not hesitate to contact your local DMA office should you have specific questions or requests.
